Peacebyteens.org or PeacebyTeens
Each of you may want to take a different section below and write it in Google Docs or Word and then add it to your site since only one person can be on the same page at the same time. This is almost real-time technology, but still considered asynchronous, which means only one person can work on it at one time.

Description: This is a web-based organization that unites groups and teens from various backgrounds, religions and communities to work to help solve various local, national and worldwide issues. Individuals and groups are allowed to post ideas for possible projects to promote peaceful relations. The groups can either work entirely online, in-person or a combination of both web-based and in-person work to promote peace. While many small projects will be completed and worked on each year, a list of five possible end of year (group-wide) project choices will be voted on by group members. The project with the most votes and feasibility of being completed will be chosen by the group. Last year, the five mile walk took place across the world to promote peace. The walkers carried banners promoting religious tolerance and raised money from people that backed their fight for global peace an understanding. Teenagers rode through cities to promote peace. Groups of teenagers from different cities and countries that were in conflict walked together in neutral sites to promote peace.
This years top 3 choices:
Basketball tournaments for peace-individuals from countries play together in a 1 day tournament to promote peace in areas where hostility exists.
Save the Earth- Teenagers use only essential electricity throughout the summer.
Drink Tap Donate Bottles- bottles of water are donated as teenagers keep track on the website of how many bottles of soda, water they would have bought otherwise.
Target Audience
Teenagers throughout the world.
Schools and community organizations that promote peace worldwide.
Businesses that may sponsor project.
Volunteers such as web-developers or game-designers fro web-based projects.
Newspapers and politicians to help promote this organization.
Peacebyteens Goal
The goal of the organization is to be both a web-based and in-person organization that promotes viable peaceful projects started by its members. Here, the goal is to promote peaceful and positive projects that teens create and are responsible for implementing. Peacebyteens shows how teenagers are not too young to be leaders in the world and are responsible community and digital citizens.
Peacebyteens Background and History
Founded in 2003 by three Bedminster middle school students who found the name peacebyteens.org and worked with adults to make it a reality.
Students continued service in high school and while in college, despite the fact they attended different colleges.
Promoted the cause by reaching out to college students worldwide to help inspire peaceful projects.
Group has 8 full-time staff members and runs projects throughout the world.
Large companies have given money to the organization.
Peacebyteens Success Stories
Website game on peacebyteens site that promotes racial tolerance. The more students play the more money goes to racial tolerance programs.
Walk for Peace- five mile walk same day of year throughout the world. Internet and TV coverage promoting this historic event.
Peacebyteens Future Projects
Hoops for peace between young Israeli and Palestinian youth.
Website to tap into the number of water or soda bottles that were not purchased. Companies donate the equivalent to children that need clean water. For example, if 2000 gallons were not drunk, 2000 bottles were purchased. Students keep record of this and with parental approval.
Peacebyteens Volunteers
The volunteers of peacebyteens are formed through students from schools and homes throughout the world. The site is promoted and run by students in college that began the program when they were teenagers. Support from over 100 volunteers in different countries make this a wonderful experience. Volunteers do so in person, their community or through web-based programs.
